“Ready For Reading”
This is an intensive hands-on twelve-week program aimed at helping children and their parents in the following ways:
1. Teach Children and their parents the basics of reading and importance of reading.
2. Creates a parent and child teamwork environment since it is joint-work.
3. Allows ACAF to foster the parent to motivation their.
4. Provides opportunities to educate parents about the negative effects of abuse and neglect as well as to offer resources on parenting skills.
5. Promotes community interaction.
Although we receive donated facilities and hire volunteers for this program, there still exists expense due to the following:
1. Facilities are not always donated.
2. Each Child-Parent team receives a 12-book set for the course.
3. Each Child-Parent team receives a workbook for homework & goal setting.
4. Each Child-Parent team receives snacks at each meeting.
5. The program needs to be marketing in each community where it is to be operated so that we can attract volunteers and participants.
6. There are very minimal operational expenses, i.e. telephone, copying, postage etc.
The success of this program is phenomenal and dependent upon your continues support.
